The Texas Racing Commission has allocated 2016 dates to the state's three Class 1 racetracks.

Despite the uncertainty regarding its funding beyond December 1, the Texas Racing Commission has allocated 2016 race dates to the state’s three tracks.

According to a report in Daily Racing Form, the commission approved Lone Star Park for a 50-date Thoroughbred meet, running from April 7-July 17. The track will also conduct a Quarter Horse meet from September 16-November 12.

Sam Houston Race Park’s Thoroughbred meet is scheduled to run 32 dates from January 15-March 8. Its Quarter Horse meet will run from March 25-May 16.

Retama Park near San Antonio is scheduled to open its Thoroughbred meet on September 2, with the season running through November 26. Retama was also granted a 20-date meet for Quarter Horses, from June 10 through August 13.
