TQHA Hires Public Relations Firm

The objective of this move is to educate Texas legislators and citizens of the importance of the state's horse racing industry.

Press release

The Texas Quarter Horse Association has hired a public relations firm.

The Texas Quarter Horse Association has hired Elizabeth Christian Public Relations of Austin to outline a strategy to create a public campaign to educate Texans -- both legislators and the general public -- about the impact and long-term implications of a potential defunding of the Texas Racing Commission.

If funds are still available, ECPR will work on a campaign for elected officials on the importance and potential options for the future of the horse industry in Texas prior to the 2017 legislative session.

"We want all Texas horse groups to be a part of this," said TQHA executive director Val Clark.

Anyone wanting to donate to help fund a strategic public relations plan to educate Texans and Texas Legislators about the importance of the state's racing industry can send a check to:

Attention: INDUSTRY FUND

Objectives of this fund are short term (fully fund the Texas Racing Commission by November 30) and long term (diplomatically educate and enter into dialog with elected officials on the importance and potential options for the future of the horse industry in Texas prior to the upcoming Legislative Session in 2017). With the help of an economic impact study of the Texas horse industry currently underway, we will seek council from Associations, Industry professionals, legal and lobby advisors.

Established in 1995, ECPR is one of the largest public relations firms in central Texas. It is known for handling successful, results-oriented projects that employ a wide array of communication tools, including media outreach, creation of collateral materials, planning and implementation of social media strategies, video production, public meetings and celebrations, direct mail, e-marketing, website updates, development of speakers bureaus, public service announcements, coalition development and polling.

Elizabeth Christian was named “Public Relations Practitioner of the Year” by the Texas Public Relations Association, and the firm has won numerous other awards from public relations and community organizations.
