FQHRA Horsemen's Update

Updates for horsemen regarding the 2015-16 Hialeah Park meet and the board of directors election.

Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association

The 2015-16 Hialeah Park Quarter Horse meet opens December 26.

The Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association is reminding horsemen to make sure that their owner/trainer licenses are current.

Owner/trainer licenses are handled by the State of Florida’s Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation, Pari-Mutuel Licensing section:

Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering
1940 N. Monroe St.
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1035
Phone: (850) 488-3211
Fax: (850) 488-0550

There is also a website where horsemen can download the license form. However, fingerprints are required before a license application can be completed.

Also, stall applications are available for the 2015-16 Hialeah Park meet, which opens December 26. Applications can be faxed directly to Hialeah Park at (305) 887-8006. The track’s barn area opens December 12.

In addition, all FQHRA members will be receiving their 2015-2016 Horseman's Directory in the mail. Enclosed in these packets is a voting card for the four board positions up for nominations.

In September, FQHRA posted an announcement regarding nominations for the upcoming election asking all interested members to notify FQHRA if they had an interest in serving on the board. Two members who are both owners, trainers and breeders -- Lee Jenkins and Randy Weidner -- were the only members other than the current three members serving on the board of directors who indicated a desire to serve on the FQHRA board.
