Moonist Rises to No. 1

Los Al star makes a winning case in National Poll.

Q-Racing Journal

Moonist has risen to the top of the poll.

Scoring for the 20th time in his 29-race career in Saturday's $150,000 Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship (G1), Moonist made a winning case for his rise to No. 1 in this week's AQHA National Poll for the 3-year-old-and-older horses. The Separatist gelding has been nearly flawless in 2015, winning seven of nine starts. On Saturday, he outran No. 5-ranked Far Niente and No. 9 Rock You in a showdown of nationally ranked powerhouses.

Moonist earned 100 out of 110 possible points in the poll and supplanted All American Derby (G1) winner Apollitical Blood at the head of the class.

As for the 2-year-old rankings, All American Futurity (G1) winner Jess Good Candy remains a unanimous choice atop the poll this week. The top players remain unchanged with Walk Thru Crystal, BV Midnite Express, First Valiant Sign and Tres Friends rounding out the first five.
