Western Montana Turf Club Reveals Plan to Return Racing to Missoula

A live race meet would be MIssoula's first since 2006.

Supporters of bringing live horse racing back to the Western Montana Fair in Missoula say they would increase gate and concession sales at the fair by more than $120,000, with an investment of just $30,000 from Missoula County.

Kim Dudik, a state representative from Missoula and chairwoman of the Western Montana Turf Club, told county commissioners on Thursday that three days of racing at the 2016 fair would help revive the fair and could be worked into the current planning process for a fairgrounds in need of rejuvenation.
