Dr. Allred Pledges 10 More Years of Racing at Los Alamitos

The owner of the track made the pledge in a letter dated April 15.

Los Alamitos Racecourse owner Dr. Edward Allred has pledged at least 10 more years of live racing at the track.

In a letter dated April 15 and distributed to "employees and participants," Los Alamitos Racecourse owner Dr. Edward Allred said that he plans to keep the track open for live racing for at least 10 more years.

Dr. Allred also wrote in the letter that the track is planning to present a local ballot measure to develop portions of its property and the now-closed Cypress Golf Course, which he also owns.

"God willing, let's plan on 10 years...and at that time, reevaluate the status of my health and proceed as indicated," he wrote. Allred, 79, also said that he is in good health after having recovered from the urologic surgery he underwent in November 2015.
