Sun Downs Racetrack in Kennewick, Washington, opens its three-week meet with a eight-race program on Saturday.
Sun Downs will present live racing on weekends through May 8. The closing-day card will feature the $25,000-est. Pot O’ Gold Futurity for 2-year-olds.
“We have a busy schedule,” Sun Downs racing secretary Shorty Martin told the Tri-City Herald. “We have a lot of horses on the grounds already. The barn is almost full.
“We’ll have fuller fields, better (wagering) handles, and have a real successful meet,” he added. "We've had a good season every year. It's probably one of the best non-profit racetracks around the whole northwest. We've had a real successful meet around here."
