Lone Star Park Releases $2.5-Million Stakes Schedule

The track's 26-day meet opens September 16.

Lone Star Park has released a fall stakes schedule worth $2.5 million in purses.

Lone Star Park has released its stakes schedule for its 26-day Quarter Horse meet, which opens September 16.

Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, Lone Star Park will offer 19 stakes worth approximately $2.5 million in purses, topped by the the state's richest horse race for any breed, the 400-yard, $1-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) on closing night, November 12. Other Quarter Horse stakes highlights include the 440-yard, $400,000-est. Texas Classic Derby (G1), which will also be run on closing night, and the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) on Octoberr 1.

Two more lucrative stakes -- the 400-yard, $450,000-est. Dash For Cash Futurity (G2), and the 440-yard, $150,000-est. Dash For Cash Derby (G3) -- will be contested on October 8.

Lone Star will also host two regional Bank of America Racing Challenge Stakes -- the 400-yard, $25,000-added Merial Lone Star Distance Challenge, and the 870-yard, $20,000-added AQHA Lone Star Distance Challenge -- both of which will be run on October 1. The winners of these races will earn berths in the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Los Alamitos on October 29.
