Imperial Eagle soars in AQHA Poll.

Top-ranked 2-year-old Imperial Eagle bolstered his resume in winning Sunday's $200,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship (G1) at Zia Park and unanimously was voted No. 1 in this week's AQHA National Poll for the juveniles.

He garnered all 110 points in the balloting to pace a Top 10 that did not change from a week ago. The All American Futurity (G1) winner Imperial Eagle now has a pair of Grade 1 victories on his resume, joining Runnning Brook Gal as the only freshmen to score two Grade 1 victories at the classic 440 yards (she won that double in 2009). Meanwhile, A Revenant sits a clear-cut No. 2 on the strength of his Rainbow Futurity (G1) score this summer, but No. 3 Lotta Blues Man will get to make his case this weekend in the $1,950,050 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).

All American Derby (G1) winner EC Jet One holds a tenuous 100-94 edge atop the poll this week for the 3-year-old-and-older set. But No. 2 Heza Dasha Fire figures to vault him if he’s able to score in the all-important $600,000 Champion of Champions (G1) on Saturday night at Los Alamitos. Challengers in the Champion of Champions include this week's No. 4 AJs High, No. 6 Big Lew and No. 10 He Looks Hot.
