Los Al winners race up AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com Poll

Upset victories in a pair of Los Alamitos showcase races this past weekend solidified the top rankings for a pair of summer stars in the latest AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com national polls. Zoomin For Spuds rallied to nab Heza Dasha Fire in Saturday's Champion of Champions (G1), allowing All American Derby (G1) hero EC Jet One to comfortably remain atop the poll for older horses.

Meanwhile, Worth Doing upended Lotta Blues Man in Sunday's Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1) and denied that rival a case to challenge No. 1-ranked Imperial Eagle, the two-time Grade 1 winner, at the fore of the 2-year-old rankings. Worth Doing has never been worse than third in nine starts this year, including a second-place finish in the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) and Governor’s Cup Futurity (RG2) and a third-place finish in the Golden State Million Futurity (G1).

Both Zoomin For Spuds and Worth Doing vaulted all the way to No. 2 in their respective polls. Neither horse had been ranked a week ago, prior to their breakout performances.

As for the older horses, reigning world champion Heza Dasha Fire dropped one spot this week to No. 3 following his surprising runner-up as the 1-to-2 favorite in the Champion of Champions. Also dropping one spot apiece this week were No. 5 AJs High and No. 7 Big Lew after finishing fourth and third, respectively, in the Champion of Champions.

On the juvenile front, Imperial Eagle lost his stranglehold as a unanimous No. 1-rated runner in the land. He garnered 105 of a possible 110 points in the balloting as Worth Doing shot near the top with 90 points. Lotta Blues Man, second by a head in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity as the 6-to-5 chalk, dropped one spot this week to No. 4.
