Prairie Meadows Sets 2016 Racing Calendar
The track's 26-day American Quarter Horse meet starts August 20.

Prairie Meadows near Des Moines, Iowa, has set its 2016 live racing calendar.
Prairie Meadows will open its season with a 67-day Thoroughbred meet, April 28-August 13. A 26-day American Quarter Horse season will follow and run from August 20-October 15.
Quarter Horse racing will typically be offered on a Friday-through-Sunday schedule. The only exceptions to this schedule will be opening weekend, with racing on a Saturday-Sunday format, and closing week, when racing will be offered on Thursday, October 13.
Prairie Meadows Quarter Horse stakes schedule will be topped by the 440-yard, $65,000 Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge (G3) on September 17. The track’s closing-day program will feature four open stakes and four Iowa-bred stakes worth a combined $850,000 in purses.
Post time for Prairie Meadows’ Quarter Horse meet will be 5:30 p.m. (CDT) on Fridays and 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
