Sunland Park Plans to Resume Live Racing on February 26

Sunland Park Racetrack plans to resume live racing on February 26. An EHV-1 outbreak at the track and three nearby training centers has shut down racing at Sunland Park since January 22.

Sunland Park Racetrack has announced plans to resume live racing on February 26.

Entries for the track's program, which would be its first live racing since January 22, will be taken on February 19.

On Saturday, Sunland Park issued the following announcement on its Facebook page:

"Sunland Park is pleased to announce live racing will return on Friday, February 26, 2016. More details for protocols for horses entered on race days will be available soon. We thank the (New Mexico) Livestock Board, Dept. of Agriculture, Racing Commission, and horsemen for their diligence in helping to expedite containment."

The New Mexico Livestock Board on Saturday announced that a total of 66 horses have been infected with the EHV-1 virus. Three more horses were released from quarantine on Saturday, and a total of 11 barns have been returned to non-exposed status.
