The North Dakota Racing Commission will finalize its 2016 calendar for its tracks, including North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo, on Thursday.

Backers of the North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo hope to build momentum for the future with a six-day race meet in July.

The track opened in 2003 and has gradually increased its fan base despite a two-season layoff in 2010-11 and the cancellation of last year's season. Attendance averaged 2,250 per day for NDHP's 2014 meet.

NDHP offers American Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing. General manager Mike Schmitz said that the North Dakota Racing Commission plans to finalize 2016 race dates at its meeting in Bismarck on Thurday.
