Indiana Grand Releases $1.5-Million Quarter Horse Stakes Schedule

The track's 120-day season will feature six all-Quarter Horse dates.

Indiana Grand will offer 20 American Quarter Horse stakes during its 120-day meet, which opens April 19.

Indiana Grand has released its American Quarter Horse stakes schedule for its 2016 meet, which opens April 19.

Indiana Grand will offer 20 stakes worth an estimated $1.5 million in purse money. There will be six all-Quarter Horse dates, starting with the first one on Saturday, June 4.
The track’s Quarter Horse stakes schedule is topped by the 300-yard, $200,000-est. Gordon Mobley Futurity on June 18. The Mobley Futurity will be joined on June 18 by the 300-yard, $100,000-added Jaguar Rocket Stakes (R) for Indiana-bred 2-year-olds.

“A lot of our Quarter Horse stakes have changed dates in 2016,” said Indiana Grand director of racing Kevin Greely. “After talking with QHRAI (Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana), we tried to space the stakes out to allow more opportunities for the horses to participate in more of the stakes races. By doing this, we will have more dates featuring stakes races in 2016 than ever before.”

Indiana Grand’s final all-Quarter Horse night, October 22, will feature for stakes: the $150,000-added Miss Roxie Little Futurity (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds, the $100,000-added Governor’s Stakes for 2-year-olds, the $100,000-added QHRAI Derby, and the $75,000-added Indiana Championship.

Indiana Grand’s 120-day season offers Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing and runs through October 29.
