Equipment Malfunction Causes Cancellations at Retama

The track was forced to scrap the final two races on Friday's 10-race opening-night program, including the Selma Stakes.

Retama Park was forced to cancel the last two races on its opening-night card.

An equipment malfunction caused Retama Park near San Antonio to cancel its final two races on Friday.

One of the cancelled races on Retama's opening-night card was the 350-yard, $20,000 Selma Stakes for fillies and mares. It is not known at this time if this race will be rescheduled.

Racing is scheduled to resume at Retama Park on Saturday, beginning at 6:35 p.m. (CDT). The track's 10-race prorgram features the 870-yard, $15,000 Universal City Handicap.
