Alberta Announces New Funding Deal for Racing Industry

The new 10-year agreement resembles the previous funding arrangement, which is set to expire at the end of this month.

For the next 10 years, Horse Racing Alberta will continue to receive a cut of the net revenue from slot machines at the province's four racing entertainment centers.

The provincial government of Alberta on Saturday announced a 10-year agreement to continue funding the horse racing industry.

"This new 10-year commitment will continue to support an important economic and cultural piece of rural Alberta and the agricultural sector," said Alberta finance minister Joe Ceci at a media event at Century Downs Racetrack north of Calgary.
