Louisiana Downs Honors its 2016 Meet Champions

The track's 46-day winter American Quarter Horse meet ended Wednesday.

Louisiana Downs in Bossier City ended its 46-day winter Quarter Horse meet on Wednesday.

Eddi Martinez was the leading jockey during the 46-day American Quarter Horse meet at Louisiana Downs, which ended March 23.

Martinez rode the winners of 30 races, two more than runner-up Antonio Alberto. Martinez’s mounts racked up purse earnings of $218,789.

Kenneth Weeks was the leading trainer at Louisiana Downs, as he sent out 18 winners from 54 starters, three more wins than runner-up Orlando Orozco. Horses trained by Weeks earned $107,704.

Julien R. Stevens III, the meet’s leading owner, won eight races from 21 starters, one more than runner-up Geral Dewitt.
