Turf Paradise Releases Stakes Schedule for 2016-17 Season
The track opens its Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet on October 16.

Turf Paradise in Phoenix has released its stakes schedule for its 2016-17 Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet, which runs October 16-May 7.
Turf Paradise’s Quarter Horse stakes schedule is once again led by the 300-yard, $70,000-est. Desert Classic Futurity on April 30. Other noteworthy Quarter Horse stakes include the 400-yard, $50,000-est. AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity on December 11, and the 350-yard, $45,000-est. AQRA President’s Spring Derby on April 8.
Also, three Bank of America Racing Challenge regional stakes are tentatively scheduled for April 30 -- the 440-yard, $55,000 Bank of America Turf Paradise Championship Challenge (G3); the 350-yard, $20,000-added John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge for 2-year-olds; and the 870-yard, $15,000 AQHA Distance Challenge.
“Turf Paradise is the place where horses go fast and the dollar goes far,” said track general manager Vince Francia. “We are also proud to be carrying on the tradition of Arizona horse racing for a seventh decade. We look forward to welcoming a new generation of horse racing enthusiasts and welcoming back our loyal fans.”
