AQHA Racing Poll
Record performance leads to dead heat in AQHA Poll.
April 25, 2017
Fueled by a track record-setting performance in the Bank of America Sam Houston Championship Challenge (G2) on Saturday, Jessies First Down moved into a tie with Bodacious Eagle at the top of this week’s AQHA Racing National Poll for older horses. The idle Bodacious Eagle, who has two graded stakes wins at the Remington Park meet, was the near unanimous leader of the poll for the first three weeks.
Jessies First Down, the sport’s reigning world champion, dashed 440 yards at Sam Houston Race Park in :21.214 to earn a berth in the Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) this fall at Prairie Meadows, in addition to a track record time at the Texas track.
Bodacious Eagle last ran on April 1, when he took the Leo Stakes (G1) in Oklahoma City.
This week’s poll also welcomed two newcomers who won stakes over the weekend at Remington Park as Bob Moore Memorial Stakes (G2) winner The Fiscal Cliff and Remington Park Derby (RG3) winner Apollitical Scout debuted in a tie for seventh spot.
The first poll for 2-year-olds will be released May 3.
