Re-Zoning Plan for Los Alamitos Racecourse Moves Forward

Live racing at the track isn't expected to end anytime soon.

Plans to re-zone Los Alamitos Racecourse property for redevelopment are moving forward.

Even though live racing at Los Alamitos Racecourse isn't expected to end anytime soon, track owner Ed Allred is moving ahead with plans to re-zone the property after it does.

In the fall of 2016, the residents of Cypress, California, rejected a ballot proposal that would allow the track property to be rezoned for a mixed-use community of homes and shopping areas. The proposal was narrowly defeated.

One year later, Allred is hoping that a revised development plan for the area will be given the go-ahead by voters.
