Edited press release

Indiana Grand will offer 19 Quarter Horse stakes during its 120-day season, which opens in April.

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino has announced its $1.5-million Quarter Horse stakes schedule for its 120-day meet, which opens April 18.

In addition, six days of the Indiana Grand season have been reserved for all-Quarter Horse racing: June 3, July 8, August 12, September 16, October 7 and October 21. Indiana Grand's two richest Quarter Horse stakes are both restricted to state-bred and sired 2-year-olds: the $150,000-added Gordon Mobley Futurity (R) on June 17, and the $150,000-added Miss Roxie Little Futurity (R) on October 21.

Eight of the track's 19 Quarter Horse stakes will offer purses of $100,000 or more.

“We are coming off a year where our Quarter Horse program set all types of records in handle,” said Indiana Grand vice president and general manager of racing Jon Schuster. “We are encouraged to see so much added interest from racing fans across the country, and we are beginning to see some new horsemen come in to participate in our events, which I believe will strengthen our program in 2017.”

Working to accommodate an increased interest in its Quarter Horse racing program, Indiana Grand completed a new 101-stall Quarter Horse barn last year. In 2017, a new track maintenance facility is being added as well as a new “safety rail” showing the track's commitment to boosting safety measures for both human and equine athletes.

The full list of Quarter Horse stakes for 2017 is available at www.indianagrand.com. The track's Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet runs through October 28.
