Jockey J.R. Valenzuela Suspended

The Sunland Park stewards took the action after an electrical device was found in the track's jockeys' room.

Jockey John Raul (J.R.) Valenzuela has been suspended by New Mexico Racing Commission stewards.

Jockey J.R. Valenzuela has been suspended by New Mexico Racing Commission after an electrical device was discovered in the Sunland Park jockeys' room before Sunday's Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) for state-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses.

Valenzuela had been named to ride Mighty B Dragon in the 400-yard, $205,974 Shue Fly. He was replaced by Sergio Becerra Jr. and finished fourth, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Running Dragon.
