Electrical Malfunction Causes Cancellation at Los Alamitos

The track scrapped the last six races on its Sunday program.

Edited press release

Los Alamitos cancelled the last six races on its Sunday program.

An electrical malfunction with its backstretch lights forced Los Alamitos Racecourse to cancel the last six races on its Sunday program.

The cancelled races included the 550-yard, $20,000 Barbra B Handicap. Live racing is scheduled to resume on January 20.

As required by CHRB rules 1976.9e and 1976.9f, the Early Pick 4 was paid on Sunday. The Early Pick 4 paid $2.60 for 7-1-all-all. As per the rules, if fewer than three of the Pick 4 races are cancelled (that is, at least two races were run), the pool must be divided to those tickets with the most number of winners, which on Sunday was two races.

Place Pick All wagers were refunded per CHRB rule 1976.8g, which states that in the Place Pick All “the entire pool shall be refunded if less than four races are completed”. Pick 3 wagers were refunded per CHRB rule 1977e, which states that in the Pick 3 “if more than one race is cancelled the association shall refund the entire pool.”

The Pick 6 Carryover of $3,280 that entered Sunday’s program will now carry over to January 20.
