Press release

Arapahoe Park near Denver has announced its 2017 race dates.

Arapahoe Park has announced its 2017 dates, as the track will conduct a 39-day meet from May 19-August 13.

Located in Aurora, Colorado, Arapahoe Park will feature nine races per day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Post time every day will be 1 p.m. (MDT). The track will present a holiday racing program on Memorial Day (Monday, May 29). During that weekend, there will be no live racing on the previous Friday, May 26.

On Saturday, June 17, Arapahoe Park will partner with the Colorado Horse Council to give fans chance the chance to bring their horses and ride on the racetrack. The track's richest Quarter Horse race, the Arapahoe Futurity (formerly the Mile High Futurity), will be contested on closing day.

Arapahoe Park will have a new racing secretary in 2017, Hank Demoney, who has most recently been a steward at Arapahoe Park and has seven decades of experience as a general manager, racing secretary, clerk of scales, and other areas of racing management in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and other states.

“I want to keep the races competitive, and hopefully we can get a few more horses and have bigger field sizes,” Demoney said.
