Juanita Crone Dies

Juanita Crone, the wife of Gordon Crone, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017.

Juanita was born on January 30, 1925. She attended grade school in North Kearny. She then attended Lakin High School and graduated in 1943.

She was married to Gordon, a longtime horseman and an AQHA director from 1985–1992. They raced the champion gelding Vespero in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Vespero, a son of the Three Bars (TB) stallion St Bar, was named the 2-year-old champion gelding in 1978. Gordon, whose memory is honored with the Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award, died in 1994. Juanita was a resident of Dighton, Kansas at the time of her passing. 

A graveside service was held on Sunday March 5, 2017, at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin.
