A bill scheduled for a committee hearing on Monday would cut purses and breeders' awards in Louisiana.

A state legislator in Louisiana has introduced a bill that would redirect appoximately $36 million in casino revenue flowing to racetrack purses and breeders' awards into a scholarship program.

The bill has been scheduled for a hearing on Monday by the House Appropriations Committee, and it would cut in half the annual amount for horsemen and breeders.
