Hazel Park Raceway Abruptly Closes

The Detroit-area track was scheduled to open its 2018 season on May 4.

Hazel Park, Michigan's last remaining Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse track, has closed its doors.

Hazel Park Raceway near Detroit, Michigan, has closed its doors after nearly 70 years.

The track was scheduled to open its 2018 season, which included American Quarter Horse racing, on May 4. In a news release, Hazel Park management announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its asset. The deal is expected to close in the next few weeks. Terms were not disclosed.
