Ruidoso Downs opened its track for training on Friday, approximately one month in advance of its May 25 season opener.

Ruidoso's 47-day meet runs through Labor Day, September 3. The track will offer a total of seven Grade 1 stakes, topped by the 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1), American Quarter Horse racing's richest and most prestigious race, on closing day.

Ruidoso's stakes schedule will offer more than $13.6 million in purses and bonuses. The track will offer a $2-million Triple Crown Futurity Bonus to the connections of a 2-year-old who sweeps all three open Grade 1 futurities. New for 2018 is a $1-million Triple Crown Derby Bonus for any 3-year-old who wins Ruidoso's three open Grade 1 derbies.

Ruidoso Downs' entertainment calendar includes a concert series, starting with Red Steagall on May 27. Tickets to the Steagall benefit concert start at $75 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres. Reserved seats for this show are $150. The concert benefits the newly formed All American Ruidoso Downs Foundation.

Advance tickets to the Flatland Cavalry (June 2) and AB Quintanilla Elektro Kumbia (June 23) concerts are $20 and can be purchased by phone at (575) 378-4140. All seats are general admission, and tickets will be $25 the night of the concert at the box office.
