Last year’s All American Futurity (G1) winner Fly Baby Fly will get an opportunity to contest the All American Derby (G1), which is September 2 at Ruidoso Downs, according to a report by Ruidoso Downs.

Derby fastest qualifier Dashnunder Afullmoon was disqualified from her placing due to a positive clenbuterol test from an out-of-competition hair test taken on August 20, and is now on the steward’s list and is ineligible to race. Fly Baby Fly, who posted the 11th fastest time, is thus moved into the final.

Fly Baby Fly is a sorrel filly by One Famous Eagle and out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Higher Fire, and is owned by a partnership. In her All American Derby trial, she was second behind Hotstepper in his qualifying trial. She was trained by Trey Ellis and ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo. Fly Baby Fly, who was bred by Julianna Hawn Holt, has earned $1,590,600 in nine career starts.
