Lone Star Park Announces 2018 Stakes Schedule

The track's fall Quarter Horse meet opens September 21.

Lone Star Park has announced its 2018 stakes schedule.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, Texas, will offer 15 stakes worth more than $2.3 million during its 16-day fall Quarter Horse meet, which opens September 21.

Lone Star Park will offer live racing every Friday and Saturday night through closing night, November 10. First post time is set for 6:05 p.m. (Central).

The track's richest race, and the richest race in the state of Texas, the 400-yard, $1-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1), will be part of a closing-night program that will include the 440-yard, $400,000 Texas Classic Derby (G1), and the 400-yard, $80,000 Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes.

Other stakes highlights include the 440-yard, $200,000 Dash For Cash Derby (G1) on September 21, and the 400-yard, $400,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) on September 22. Lone Star's signature race for older Quarter Horses, the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Stakes (G1), will be run on October 13.

New to Lone Star Park's stakes schedule this year is the Friday Night Lights Gridiron Challenge Series, a series of 100-yard races culminating in the series final on November 9. The qualifying races will be held on September 28, October 12, and October 26.
