Press Release

Training races delayed due to winter weather.

Sub-freezing temperatures and freezing rain today, with more forecast for Wednesday, has forced a postponement of this week’s Remington Park training race activity.

There were eight training races scheduled for both Wednesday, February 21, and Thursday, February 22. Those training race dates will now be moved to Monday and Tuesday, February 26 and 27, with eight events run on each day beginning at 11 a.m.

Remington Park conducts 250-yard training races for interested horsemen to allow their young athletes an opportunity to prepare for their first career pari-mutuel start. The horses must demonstrate the ability to handle the racing experience, and meet certain timing standards, in order to be approved by Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission Stewards for actual racing.

The 2018 Remington Park begins Friday, March 9, through Sunday, March 11. The first race on Opening Night, March 9, is at 6 p.m. The first race on Saturday, March 10 starts at 4 p.m. Sunday action on March 11 is underway at 1:30 p.m. The Remington Park season continues through June 2 with a total of 50 race dates scheduled.

Tracked by over 135,000 fans on Facebook and more than 9,600 Twitter followers, Remington Park has provided over $187 Million to the State of Oklahoma general education fund since the opening of the casino in 2005. Home to the 77th running of the Grade 3, $450,000 Oklahoma Futurity on Saturday, March 24; Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino. Located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, Remington Park is in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
