Ruidoso Downs Releases 2018 Stakes Schedule

The track's 47-day season opens May 25.

This season, Ruidoso Downs will for the first time offer a bonus to the connections of a 3-year-old who can sweep the track's three Grade 1 derbies.

The 60th running of the All American Futurity (G1) on Labor Day, September 3, will head a Ruidoso Downs stakes schedule that features seven Grade 1 races and more than $13.6 million in purse and bonus money.

Ruidoso Downs' 47-day meet opens on Friday, May 25, with the first of two consecutive days of 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity (G1) trials. The $1-million Ruidoso Futurity final will be run on June 10 and is the first leg of the track's Triple Crown Futurity Bonus, which pays a $2-million bonus to the connections of a horse who can win the Ruidoso, $1-million Rainbow (G1) and $3-million All American futurities. The Rainbow Futurity will be contested on July 22.

New on the Ruidoso schedule is a $1-million Triple Crown Derby bonus which pays a bonus to the connecctions of a 3-year-old who can sweep the 400-yard, $750,000-est. Ruidoso Derby (G1) on June 9, the 440-yard, $750,000-est. Rainbow Derby (G1) on July 21, and the 440-yard, $1 million-est. All American Derby (G1) on September 2.

Ruidoso Downs' other Grade 1 Quarter Horse stakes, the 440-yard, $200,000-est. All American Gold Cup (G1), will also be run on September 2.

New Mexico-bred stakes will be featured during the Zia Festival, July 28-29. State-bred Quarter Horses will contest the 400-yard, $400,000-est. Zia Futurity (RG1) that weekend.

New Quarter Horse stakes added to Ruidoso's schedule include the $25,000 Dash For Speed Stakes for 3-year-olds and older on June 2.
