Remington Park Releases Spring Meet Stakes Schedule

The track's 50-day season runs from March 8-June 1.

Remington Park has released its stakes schedule for its 50-date spring meet, which opens March 8.

Remington Park Racetrack in Oklahoma City has released its stakes schedule for its 50-day spring American Quarter Horse meet, which opens March 8.

Remington's stakes schedule is headed by the Grade 1, 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity for 2-year-olds and Grade 1, 440-yard Remington Park Championship, both of which will be contested on closing night, June 1.

In all, the track's stakes schedule features 13 races for Oklahoma-breds.

The Grade 2, $100,000-added Oklahoma Futurity, at 300 yards, will be contested on March 23, with qualifying trials on March 9. The Oklahoma Futurity began in 1947 and is the oldest futurity in Quarter Horse racing.

The Grade 3, $100,000-added Oklahoma Derby will share the bill on March 23 following trials to be run on March 8. The 330-yard, $270,000-added Remington Park Futurity (RG1) for eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds will be run on April 20 after two days of trials, April 5-6.

The Grade 1, $300,000-added Heritage Place Futurity headlines Remington Park's top races for 2-year-olds. Trials for this race, which last year offered a purse of $1,024,840, will be run May 10-11.

The 440-yard, $250,000 Remington Park Championship (G1), an invitational stakes, will be one of nine stakes on the track's "Mega Card" closing night. Last year's Remington Park Championship was won by two-time world champion Jessies First Down.

Bank of America Racing Challenge stakes will also return to Remington Park. The 440-yard, $60,000-added Bank of America Oklahoma Challenge (G2) and 870-yard, $27,500-added AQHA Oklahoma Distance Challenge (G3) will both be run on May 12. Trials for both races, if needed, will be run April 27.
