RACE RECORD: One of the leading 2-year-olds already this year, Lynnder 16 broke her maiden at first asking in April, and won the $864,500 Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Futurity (RG2).
She returned to win her Ruidoso Futurity (G1) trial, and qualified to the $100,000 Juvenile, in which she ran third.
In her All American trial, she was second by a nose to Wokatee On Fire in the fifth trial.
BREEDER: AQHA Past President and American Quarter Horse Hall of Famer Jim Helzer and his wife, Marilyn, have bred the earners of more than $5.6 million. Among their top horses are champion First Klas Fred, Grade 1 winner Tough To Bee and graded stakes winners GYR Jammer, Apollitical OK, Featuring A Rockette, Adolph Tres Knockout, Wood Climber and A Bee C.
The Helzers raced All American Futurity winner and world champion Refrigerator.
OWNER: Tom Maher, who has an impressive track record on horses purchased at yearling sales, purchased Lynnder 16 with partner Dick Tobin at the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale for $31,000 and saw a quick and profitable return on the filly.
Maher, an attorney in Pierre, South Dakota, also purchased as a yearling the stakes winner Coronas Concierge ($56,744) and champion Hes Relentless, for whom he paid $63,000, and saw the stallion earn $616,380 in his racing career.
TRAINER: The regular conditioner for Maher, Jason Olmstead has since 2014 saddled the earners of more than $4.4 million.
Among them is champion Hes Relentless, who contested the 2013 All American Futurity, and stakes winners Hada Certain Charm, PYC Jess Bite Mydust and Eagles Span.
Prior to training, Jason was a jockey.
QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Christian Esqueda has since 2011 ridden 160 winners from 1,392 starts and earnings of more than $3 million.
In addition to Lynnder 16, he has ridden stakes winners that include Woop Dee Doo, Fantastic Six Pack, Mesa Marvel, Jess Doin Time and Fearles Fred.
PEDIGREE: Lynnder 16 is the second of two qualifiers by champion and leading sire Apollitical Jess, the other being Apocalyptical Jess.
The 11-year-old son of Mr Jess Perry Apollitical Jess earned more than $1.3 million on the racetrack and has to date sired the earners of more than $20 million. The stallion stands at James Ranch in Wayne, Oklahoma.
Tinys Corona Queen is a daughter of Corona Cartel and champion Tiny First Effort. A race winner, she has gotten 13 winners from 16 starters that have earned $1 million. They include full siblings Rattle N Battle ($129,037), Apollitical Man ($143,406) and First Of 15 ($113,990), as well as half-sister Hardtoget (by Foose, $119,650).
From 32 starters, her dam, Tiny First Effort, has gotten 23 winners and the earners of more than $728,000, led by Eagles Span (by One Famous Eagle, $190,695).
