RACE RECORD: Undefeated in his two starts, Pilot Points Moon made his first start in an August 4 maiden race, a 300-yard test that he won by a head.

He powered clear in the ninth trial on Day 2, winning his trial by 1½ lengths over a field that, incidentally, included his half brother Pilotpointdashing.

“We just waited for him to mature,” said Giles of his All American qualifier. “He’s a nice horse and should step forward in the finals.”

BREEDER/OWNER: Donna and Jon McPherson’s Grant Farms LLC is the only breeder to get more than one finalist in the All American Futurity. They also bred Badhabit Jess.

The Pineville, Louisiana, breeder has since 2012 bred the earners of more than $4.3 million, including graded stakes winners Big Dashing Perry ($350,022), Paint My Pilot ($377,577) and Long Wagon Ho ($154,264).

They raced stakes winner Adore The Hero.

TRAINER: Wes Giles has since 1981 trained more than 1,000 winners and horses that have earned more than $22.5 million, which places him in the Top 10 of all-time leading trainers by money earned.

In 2014, he saddled Too Flash For You to win the All American Derby (G1), and last year saddled All American Futurity runner-up Bigg Daddy.

Giles has also trained champions Astica, Jesscuzican and Gone To The Mountain, and Grade 1 winners including Apolltical Chad, Trendi, Wild Six, Uptown Dynasty and Fast Prize Zoom.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: With more than 360 visits to the winner’s circle under his belt, Adrian Ramos has since 2011 ridden the earners of more than $8.7 million. This year, he is bringing them home at a 15 percent win clip, the highest of his career.

He guided Apolltical Chad to win the 2016 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) and finish fourth in the All American Futurity (G1). Earlier this year, he rode Zee James to win the $396,412 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2).

PEDIGREE: First Moonflash is a 13-year-old son of the late champion First To Flash. A champion and 440-yard world record setter, he earned $969,828 on the racetrack. From six crops to race, he has sired the earners of more than $12 million, including 2013 All American Futurity (G1) winner Handsome Jack Flash and 2013 All American Derby (G1) winner Too Flash For You.

He is also the sire of All American qualifier No Mires A La Luna. First Moonflash stands at Double L L Farm at Bosque, New Mexico.

Ms Pilot Point can produce a classic All American horse, and proved it in 2010 when her first foal, Mr Piloto, won the All American Futurity. She herself is a two-time stakes winner who earned $73,706 in her career, and she has to date produced the earners of more than $2 million. They include 2013 All American Derby third-place finisher Point Break Dash (by First Down Dash, $413,127) and 2016 Rainbow Futurity (G1) runner-up Paint My Pilot (by PYC Paint Your Wagon, $377,577).
