RACE RECORD: Shakem Bye Perry began his career in Texas, where he broke his maiden in his fourth start, a maiden race at Retama Park. He then qualified to the $435,680 Texas QHA Sale Futurity (RG2), where he was third after a rough trip. He won the sixth All American Futurity trial on the first day by a length to post the top time of the day.

BREEDER: Garlyn Shelton of Temple, Texas, has bred horses for more than 40 years, and bred the earners of more than $1.6 million. They include Grade 1 winners Eyesa Shaker and Stoli Angel.

OWNER: Jose Espinoza paid $14,000 for Shakem Bye Perry at last year’s TQHA Yearling Sale. Espinoza has owned the earners of more than $280,000, including stakes winners Sophastacat and Hey Primer.

TRAINER: Pedro Lopez has trained two winners from 13 starts with earnings of $7,292.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Omar Reyes has ridden 377 winners from 2,752 starters, and mount earnings of more than $7.7 million. Among his victories are Grade 1 wins with Llano Cartel and Jessa Little Rusty.

PEDIGREE: First Prize Perry, who died in 2016, was a son of Mr Jess Perry out of Dam of Distinction First Prize Dash. The Grade 1-placed runner has from seven crops sired the earners of more than $4.2 million, siring winners at a 60 percent clip.

Dam Shakem Bye was bred by Shelton, who bought the mare back at the conclusion of her racing career. The mare was third or better in 10 of her 12 career starts. This is her first starter.
