RACE RECORD: Already an experienced Grade 1 horse, Fly Baby Fly started her career in the Ruidoso and Rainbow trials. She won her qualifying Rainbow trial and finished fourth in the final. She won her All American Futurity trial on the second day, clocking a :21.902. She joins Believe Me Irene as the two fillies in the race.

BREEDER: Julianna Hawn Holt of Blanco, Texas, has one of the finest collections of racing American Quarter Horse broodmares in the world. A breeder for more than 40 years, she owned American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member Corona Chick until the mare died in 2013. Hawn Holt also owns or owned major runners and producers RJK Runaway, Apollitical Time, Thewayouwantmetoo, Higher Fire, Stolis Fortune, Eddie Jym, Heartswideopen, Stylish Jess BR, Kates Dynasty and Coronas First Diva. Hawn Holt has bred the earners of more than $6 million, including runner and major sire Valiant Hero and champion A Revenant.

OWNER: The Fly Baby Fly partnership paid $180,000 to acquire the filly at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

TRAINER: James Padgett II has trained eight winners from 56 starters, with earnings of $24,098. He is one of two trainers in the All American with two horses. He also trains Hawkeye.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Jockey Rodrigo Vallejo has since 1994 ridden the earners of more than $21.6 million. They include 19 Grade 1 victories, including this summer aboard Hold Air Hostage in the Rainbow Derby and Eagle Jazz in the Ruidoso and Rainbow futurities. With five months left in the year, he has already earned $1.98 million this year, putting him on track to match or exceed his previous best year, 2008, in which horses he rode earned $2,286,174.

PEDIGREE: Fly Baby Fly is one of two qualifiers by One Famous Eagle, who is also the second sire of qualifier Hawkeye. One Famous Eagle, a champion runner during his racing career, has from six crops to race sired the earners of more than $20.1 million. He sired 2012 All American Futurity winner One Dashing Eagle in his first crop and was the sire of last year’s winner, Imperial Eagle (and runner-up The Marfa Lights). He is also the sire of three All American Derby qualifiers – De La Eagle, The Marfa Lights and Magestic Eagle.

Dam Higher Fire is a champion daughter of Walk Thru Fire bred and raced by Dutch Masters III. The mare earned $1,314,742 in her 15-race career and was the sport’s champion 2-year-old and champion 2-year-old filly in 2005. Since 2008, she has produced seven foals, of which five have started and all have returned winners. They include Grade 1-placed runner Highest Fire (by Corona Cartel, $325,637) and multiple Grade 1-finalist Corona The Cat (by Corona Cartel, $201,373).
