RACE RECORD: Still seeking his first win, but lighting the board in five of seven career starts, No Mires A La Luna knows how to show up for the big dance.

The First Moonflash gelding was third in Jess Fire Chick’s Mountain Top Futurity (RG3) and eighth in the same horse’s Zia Futurity (RG1).

In his trial, No Mires A La Luna was second by a nose to Badhabit Jess after being bumped at the break and rallying late.

BREEDER/OWNER: Byron R. Woodard of Hobbs, New Mexico, has bred only a handful of horses, but those include All American finalist No Mires A La Luna. Specifically, he has bred seven foals, three of which have started and earned $53,990.

He partners with David Valdez of Alpine, Texas, who owns Mad About The Moon, who in 2014 was second behind JM Miracle in the All American Futurity. Valdez also owns Flash Moonfire, who last year was second in the Mountain Top Futurity (RG3) and has earned $104,064.

TRAINER: Trey Ellis has since 2010 trained 271 winners that have earned $4.5 million.

They include graded stakes winners Embrujo Star and First Corona Down.

His horses have finished in the money in 40 percent of their races during his career.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Rodrigo Vallejo has in the past quarter century ridden the earners of more than $23.8 million, putting him in the top 25 of all-time leading jockeys by money earned. He is the reigning champion jockey.

Last year, he won the All American Derby (G1) with champion Hold Air Hostage. He has also ridden world champions Jessies First Down and Stolis Winner, and Grade 1 winners Mr Queens Mystery, Azoom, Eagle Jazz, Stimulus, This Snow Is Cold and Royal Shake Em.

PEDIGREE: First Moonflash is a 13-year-old son of the late champion First To Flash. A champion and 440-yard world record setter, he earned $969,828 on the racetrack.

From six crops to race, he has sired the earners of more than $12 million, including 2013 All American Futurity (G1) winner Handsome Jack Flash and 2013 All American Derby (G1) winner Too Flash For You.

He is also the sire of Pilot Points Moon. First Moonflash stands at Double L L Farm at Bosque, New Mexico.

Dont Looke Ethel is a New Mexico-bred daughter of Genuine Strawfly and a half sister of Eddie Jym, the dam of champion PJ Chick In Black ($652,081). She has two starters, including No Mires A La Luna.
