RACE RECORD: Marking his first win in his fourth trial race, Tools In The Sky won his All American trial race by a neck and defeated fellow qualifier Im Jess Special V.

The First Down Dash gelding started his career at Sunland in a West Texas Futurity trial, and then has contested each of the Ruidoso Triple Crown trials.

BREEDER: Tools In The Sky’s breeder is a partnership of George and Ruben Villalobos, based in Riverside, California.

They have bred 18 horses, 11 of which have started and five that have returned winners with earnings of more than $44,000.

OWNER: Lincon Farm and Ranch LLC is based in Odessa, Texas, and with four starters has seen its horses pull in more than $136,000. They include last year’s Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational winner, Mr Perry Strong.

They purchased the horse at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $30,000.

TRAINER: One of the sport’s all-time leading trainers by money earned, Mike Joiner has handled many good horses. He has saddled the earners of more than $23.2 million, with nearly 750 winners since 1991.

Among his runners are champions Kates Dynasty, FDD Dynasty, A Revenant, Brimmerton and First Klas Fred.

In 2015, he saddled First Valiant Sign to light the board in the All American Futurity (G1), and also won the 2004 All American Derby (G1) with Brimmerton.

QUALIFYING JOCKEY: A nine-year veteran race rider, Felipe Garcia has ridden the earners of more than $4.3 million.

His biggest victories include Grade 2 wins aboard BP Hit The Bigtime and Yudes Jess Dashin.

PEDIGREE: Sire First Down Dash died in 2010, but his legacy is alive and vibrant.

Immediately inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame after his passing, the world champion racehorse is the sport’s all-time leading sire, with more than $87.7 million in progeny earnings.

He is the sire of a record six All American Futurity winners – Royal Quick Dash, Dash Thru Traffic, A Classic Dash, Corona Cash, Falling In Loveagain and No Secrets Here.

Dam No Tools Required is a 19-year-old daughter of Jody O Toole who in her racing career won four stakes and earned $117,509.

From nine starters, she has produced six winners and the earners of more than $550,000. They include stakes winners One Hot Mecanic (by Corona Caliente, $158,472) and Required Fire (by Walk Thru Fire, $71,235), stakes-placed runner Firing Tools (by Walk Thru Fire, $153,018) and Grade 1 runner Tools Of Fire (by Walk Thru Fire, $155,905).

Daughter Required Fire is the dam of Restricted Grade 1-winner Jess Fire Chick ($322,040), as well as stakes-placed runner Flash Moonfire ($104,064).

This is the immediate family of AQHA Open Supreme Champion Fly The Red Eye and stakes winner Power Roll ($82,311).
