Rodrigo Vallejo rode Jess A Rogue to a half-length victory in Saturday’s 350-yard Markel Invitational Bonus Challenge Stakes at Lone Star Park.

Prepped by Steven Kearl for owner Triple M Farms, Jess A Rogue stopped the timer in :17.520 while scoring her fifth win in 13 starts and fourth stakes score. The $34,500 winner’s share of the $75,000 purse pushed the homebred sophomore filly’s bankroll to $128,173.

”She broke real well, and she didn’t make any mistakes,” said Vallejo. “She responded when I asked her to go.

“I’m very familiar with this horse -- I rode her to stakes wins at Hialeah,” he added. “The Kearls have been training her really well.”

Jess A Rogue was coming off of a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Scoopies Leaving You, in the 220-yard Evangeline Downs Dash on October 2. The filly’s stakes resume includes a nose victory in last year’s $84,000 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs, and she won two stakes during the 2015 Hialeah Park winter meet in Florida.

“She had some trouble in her last few races, but she got away clean tonight,” said Ronald Menard of Triple M Farms. “We couldn’t be more happy or more proud of her.”

Time For Jesse Lee finished third and was followed by Nifty Fury, This Wagons Okay, Cascade Dynamite, A Spring Snow, Llano Cartel, Micato and Cc Tres.
