Zulu Dragon Filly Tops New Mexican Spring Futurity Trials

Running Dragon is the fastest qualifier to the May 1, $297,890 final at Sunland Park.

Running Dragon, a homebred daughter of the First Down Dash stallion Zulu Dragon racing for the By By JJ Limited Partnership, won the fifth of seven New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) on Friday and is the fastest qualifier to the May 1, $297,890 final at Sunland Park.

Saddled by Juan M. Gonzalez and ridden by Jose Enrique Ortiz, Running Dragon covered 300 yards in :15.468, and her margin of victory was a half of a length from fourth-fastest qualifier Daddys Allstar. The filly was making her career debut.
