Fastest Qualifier Teller Baja is Best in Remington Park Futurity

The filly extends her win streak to three and gets her first stakes victory.

Teller Baja kept her perfect record intact in Saturday’s 330-yard, $888,000 Remington Park Futurity (RG2) at Remington Park.

Racing for Juan Medina of Zapata, Texas, Teller Baja defeated V Power by a half of a length in :16.752 while scoring her third win in as many outs and first stakes victory. Agustin Silva rode the homebred Teller Cartel filly for trainer R.L. “Rick” Robinson.

“She broke in a little, but after that she straightened up and we got the money,” said Silva.

The overall fastest qualifier, Teller Baja was coming off of a 1 1/4-length win in the first of 12 trials on April 8, the first night of Remington Park Futurity trials. The filly banked $355,200 from the final to push her earnings to $375,778.

Teller Baja returned a $4.40 win mutuel as the 6-5 favorite in the full field of 10. V Power, the 7-2 second choice, completed a $22.40 ($2) exacta.

Eye De Man, As and Js, Major Freight, Spicey Hero, One Corona Episode, B Double U, Political Bliss, and B A Mighty Dream completed the order of finish.
