After 15 trials conducted on a wet-fast and sealed track at Ruidoso Downs on Sunday, the field is set for the September 4, $2,414,691 All American Derby (G1).

Volcom Bay is the fastest qualifier, as the bay daughter of Volcom won the 12th trial by 2 1/2 lengths in :21.189. Jose Alvarez rode the filly for owners Bennie and Teresa Jeter and trainer Judd Kearl.

Volcom Bay was bred in Oklahoma by P.K. Thomas. She was making her first start since June 11, when she ran second to champion Jess Good Candy in the 400-yard, $1,068,631 Ruidoso Derby (G1).

The Jeters acquired Volcom Bay for $43,000 at the 2014 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The filly has won four of 12 starts and has banked $227,227, of which $199,267 has been earned this year.

Kearl will be represented by four of the 10 All American Derby finalists. The trainer also qualified second-fastest qualifier Ec Jet One, fifth-fastest qualifier First Fancy Racy, and sixth-fastest qualifier Brave Heart Won.

A homebred colt by The Louisiana Cartel owned by Enrique Carrion, Ec Jet One won the seventh heat by one length in :21.274. Esgar Ramirez rode Ec Jet One, who was making his first start since February 28, when he won the 440-yard, $204,265 South Florida Derby at Hialeah Park.

"He had surgery to remove some chips after Hialeah," Kearl said of Ec Jet One. "We've been pointing to these trials with all these horses."

First Fancy Racy won the fourth trial for owner Aldai Transport, and Brave Heart Won took the 10th heat for owners Dwayne Saucier and Michael Taylor.

First Fancy Racy was making her season debut. The Missouri-bred Carters Cartel filly ended her juvenile campaign with a second-place finish in the Grade 1, 440-yard Texas Classic Derby at Lone Star Park.

"She's a good mare and has been training super," Kearl said of First Fancy Racy. "She also had surgery to remove some chips."

Missing from the list of All American Derby finalists is Jess Good Candy, an undefeated Good Reason Sa colt who won the second trial by a handy 1 1/4 lengths for his eighth win in as many outs. Covering the distance in :21.604, Jess Good Candy was the fastest qualifier after his heat. However, his time had fallen to the 28th fastest by the end of the day.

The winner of the All American Derby will earn a berth in this year's 440-yard,, $600,000 Champion of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos.
