Carolyn Bruce's CB Come Fly With Me, a homebred daughter of the Strawfly Special stallion Desirio, earned her first career stakes victory in Saturday's $192,739 Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana Stallion Service Auction Futurity (R) at Indiana Grand.
Saddled by Joe Davis, CB Come Fly With Me went 350 yards on a muddy and sealed track in :17.594. Rolando Pina rode the Indiana-bred filly, who pocketed the $106,006 winner's share of the purse and recorded a 98 speed index.
"She loves the off track," said Pina, who has ridden CB Come Fly With Me in all five of her outs. "Everytime she comes out on the track, she wants it more. She loves to race."
CB Come Fly With Me is out of Miss Scarlet, a winning 10-year-old daughter of Sc Chiseled In Stone who was a finalist in three Indiana-bred stakes at Hoosier Park and Indiana Grand from 2008-09, including the '09 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes. The filly's second dam, the homebred winning Special Effort mare Ms Special Delivery, was a finalist in the 1993 All American Congress Futurity at Beulah Park.
Earlier on the Indiana Grand card, Bruce and Pina teamed to win the Bob Woodward Memorial Stakes with Stinkin Rich, a half brother to CB Come Fly With Me and an earner of $288,761.
"I told (Rolando) after his win aboard Stinkin Rich to go out and do the same with this one," said Bruce. "Rolando is the best. They both raced great."
An earner of $138,276, CB Come Fly With Me has won three of her five outs, all at Indiana Grand. The filly's resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Dna Dales Prospect, in the 300-yard, $130,600 Jaguar Rocket Futurity (R) on June 18.
WRS Whoseyourdaddy ran second, 1 1/4 lengths behind CB Come Fly With Me. Tres Seis Delight, HH Kentucky Krome, Zoomin B Cartel, Dnachrystalsfighter, Beach Zoomer, Cartels Justice, First Cucuy, and Jess Jace completed the order of finish.
