Seeyalateralligator parlayed a sharp break from post 2 into a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday's $85,000 Jess Burner Memorial Handicap (RG1) for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park.

Ridden by Salvador Martinez and aided by a reported 30-mph tail wind, Seeyalateralligator covered 400 yards in :19.111 and earned a 97 speed index. Wes Giles prepped the 4-year-old son of Winners Version for owners Ezra Lee and Jason Giles.

Seeyalateralligator was shortening in distance off of his second-place finish in the 440-yard, $170,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Cup Quarter Horse Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on October 30. The bay gelding was bred by Carolyn Giles, and he has won four of his 17 starts while being campaigned exclusively in New Mexico.

The $51,000 winner's share of the purse from Seeyalateralligator's second career graded stakes victory pushed his earnings to $301,347.

Justified By Chicks ran second, one length behind Seeyalateralligator. Play Misty Foreme, 7-5 favorite Klassic Strawfly, Dungarees Version, Major Moonflash, Booyah Bay, Osbaldo, Fire Stones, and Cinco Menudos completed the order of finish.
