One Famous Eagle Colt Tops First Day of Remington Training Races

Remington Park held its first set of training races on Wednesday. Thirteen more are scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 11 a.m. (CST).

Opening night of the 50-date Remington Park spring American Quarter Horse meet is March 11, but on Wednesday the track held training races to prepare young horses for their parimutuel debuts after the season starts.

The training races at Remington Park are contested at 250 yards. A dozen races were conducted under sunny skies with temperatures at about 70 degrees. Im Tellin Ya had the fastest race of the day with a time of :13.70 into a headwind of 16 mph.

Im Tellin Ya impressed while under a hand-ride throughout from jockey Jimmy Brooks in the 12th and final race of the session. Owned by Reliance Ranches of Edmond, Oklahoma, and trained by Eddie Willis, Im Tellin Ya is an Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old colt by One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Teller N Telleragain.

Thirteen training races are on tap for Thursday at Remington Park, beginning at 11 a.m. (CST). Another warm day is forecast with temperatures expected near 80 degrees and strong southerly head winds prevalent.

The Remington Park spring meet runs through June 4.
