Louisiana Downs hosted the Mardi Gras Futurity trials for state-bred 2-year-olds on Saturday.

Miguel A. Aguilar's RDD Lajollanfastdash is the fastest qualifier to the March 12, $273,054 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) for state-bred juveniles at Louisiana Downs.

Ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr. for trainer Willie Simien Jr. in the sixth of 12 trials on Saturday, RDD Lajollanfastdash covered 300 yards in :15.531, and the gelding's margin of victory was 3 1/2 lengths.

RDD Lajollanfastdash was purchased for $10,000 at last year's Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders' Association Yearling Sale. A son of Heza Fast Dash, he was bred by Richard Dale Domingue.

Second-fastest qualifier Streakin PYC won the ninth heat by three-quarters of a length in :15.875. The gelded son of JLS Party Wagon was ridden by Juan Garcia Jr. for owner Pina-Garcia Ranch and trainer Wendy Garcia.

Streakin PYC was bred by Leroy L. Fontenot Jr. The gelding was an $11,000 buy at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale.

The winner's share of the finals purse will be $122,874.
