Faith Mountain, a 5-year-old daughter of champion Panther Mountain campaigned by Fernando Villela, outran her 18-1 odds to win Friday’s 350-yard, $52,400 KOFX Radio Stakes (G2) at Sunland Park.

Ridden by Jesse Levario for trainer Taurino Gutierrez, Faith Mountain defeated 13-1 longshot DM Ada Kat by a neck in :17.767. The two longshots combined to produce a $2 exacta payoff of $383.60.

Faith Mountain was bred in Oklahoma by Fourteen Ranch Inc. The mare was making her first start since September 28, when she ran fourth in a 300-yard, $28,840 non-winners-of-three allowance dash at Zia Park.

Raced in Oklahoma and New Mexico, Faith Mountain has won three of 13 outs, and the $30,000 winner’s share of the KOFX Radio Stakes purse pushed her bankroll to $63,272.

The Ocean King, the 3-1 second choice in seven-horse field, finished third, a half of a length behind Faith Mountain, to complete a $1 trifecta payoff of $1,070.30. Odds-on favorite Mad About The Moon, Queen Arabella, Six Episodes, and The Devils Rainbow completed the order of finish.
