Gregorio Garcia Garza’s Moonin The Eagle rallied on the outside part of the track to score a three-quarter length victory in Sunday’s 440-yard, $150,000 Sam Abbey Hialeah Invitational Stakes at Hialeah Park.

Prepped by Yoani Abreu and sent to post as the 9-10 favorite in the full field of 10, Moonin The Eagle made his quarter-mile trip in :21.192 and posted a 105 speed index under jockey Ricky Ramirez. The 4-year-old gray son of champion One Famous Eagle earned $90,000 while earning his sixth win in 13 races and third stakes score.

Moonin The Eagle was bred in California by Vessels Stallion Farm, and he sold for $45,000 at the 2013 Ruidoso Yearling Sale. His dam, champion Your First Moon, is a multiple graded stakes winning 17-year-old daughter of all-time leading sire First Down Dash, and he is a half brother to Grade 3 winners Jess My Moon and Stray Cat.

Raced in New Mexico, Texas, and Florida, Moonin The Eagle has banked $399,363, and he has won three stakes -- all at Hialeah -- including the January 17, $204,310 Hialeah Maturity.

Moonin The Eagle paid $3.80 to win and teamed with runner-up and 5-1 third choice Fly Thru The Fire for a $20.60 ($2) exacta. Ill Stop The World ran third, 2 1/2 lengths behind the winner, to complete a $1 trifecta payoff of $52.40.

Eyesa Famous Eagle finished fourth and was followed by TF Cajun Cartel, Habits Secret, Daytona B, Parti Favor, Mo Zoomo, and Dynasty Of Habits.
