Rallying on the outside part of the track, HWD Racing Stables' El Dueno scored a half-length victory in Saturday's 350-yard, $30,000 Higheasterjet Handicap (G3) at Ruidoso Downs.

Prepped by Hemerio Hernandez, El Duero stopped the timer in :17.751 under jockey Raul Herrera. The $18,000 winner's share of the purse from the 6-year-old gelding's second lifetime stakes win pushed his earnings to $362,547.

El Duero was bred in Texas by Jorge Haddad. The gelding's sire, Oak Tree Special, was the sport's world champion in 2003.

El Duero was an $11,000 purchase at the 2011 TQHA Yearling Sale. His dam, the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jolla Rocket, won the 1996 LQHBA Lassie Futurity (RG3) at Delta Downs.

El Duero has won five of 22 starts, inlcuding the 2012 West Texas Futurity (G1) at Sunland Park. He also was runner-up to BP Cartels Alibi in that season's $1,048,560 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park.

Bye Byefreighttrain finished second and was followed officially by First Is Special, Glock, Rum Chata, Miracle Fish, Absolut Power, First Mapuche, and Mr Eye Opener Too.
