FDP Rock Solid Wins TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity

Seventh-fastest qualifier Fdp Rock Solid, a homebred gelding racing for Sarah Huskey, earned his first career stakes win in Saturday's $119,822 TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park.

Sent to post at odds of 9-1 in the full field of 10 2-year-olds and racing against a 15-mph head wind, Fdp Rock Solid went 350 yards in :17.948, and his winning margin was a neck from 19-10 favorite and fastest qualifier Katharsis and Already Gone Famous, who finished in a dead heat for second. Gaspar Garcia rode the gelding for trainer Esteban Rubio.
The $47,929 winner's share of the purse from the Fdp Rock Solid's second win in three outs pushed his earnings to $53,039. The gelding was bred in Texas. His sire, Rock Solid Jess, is an 11-year-old son of champion Mr Jess Perry who won the 2007 Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park and is a full brother to Jess Rock On, the third-place finisher in the '03 Texas Classic Futurity (G1).
Fdp Rock Solid's dam, First Down Payment, is a homebred winning daughter of the First Down Dash stallion Deltas First Dash.
Hez Gone, Thats Lucky For You, Shazooms Pop Cartel, Love Ta Zoom, Ms Jetta Cartel, Deala Quick Game, and Tac It Perry completed the order of finish.
