Accountably is Tops in Speedhorse Futurity Trials

The American Runaway gelding breaks his maiden Saturday at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

Nine 350-yard Speedhorse Futurity trials were contested Saturday at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

Accountably, a son of American Runaway trained by Kelli Martin for owner Ygnacio Romo, broke his maiden in the third of nine Speedhorse Futurity (G3) trials Saturday at Fair Meadows at Tulsa, and the Texas-bred gelding is the fastest qualifier to the $233,100 final on July 30.

Ridden by Yordanis Amaro, Accountably defeated ninth-fastest qualifier Trophy Wife B by one length in :17.837 for 350 yards. The gelding sold for $6,500 at the Heritage Place Mixed Sale.

Accountably was bred by Bobby D. Cox. His dam, the 14-year-old Separatist mare Check The Account, won the 2005 Firecracker Derby (G2) at Delta Downs.

An earner of $27,398 from three outs, Accountably was a finalist in the June 4 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park.
